After attending Eton College, he joined the Scots Guards in 1960 and later pursued a career in banking. His commitment to duty led him to the Royal Household, where he began as an Assistant Private Secretary in 1977. Over the years, he worked his way up to become Deputy Private Secretary and eventually Private Secretary, a position he held for an impressive 20 years. Lord Robert’s unwavering dedication was recognized by Queen Elizabeth II, who honored him with the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal.

A Loving Husband and Devoted Father

Lord Robert Fellowes was not only a figure of great importance within the royal family but also a loving husband and devoted father. His marriage to Lady Jane Fellowes at Westminster Abbey in 1978 was a joyful occasion.

Lady Jane’s sister, Diana Spencer, who later became Princess Diana, served as a bridesmaid, creating a memorable moment for all. Lord Robert and Lady Jane welcomed three children into their lives: Eleanor Ruth Fellowes, Alexander Robert Fellowes, and Laura Jane Fellowes.
