A man who bought a flooded Chevrolet Silverado reveals he got a surprise when finding out its history.

He bought the truck and restored it after it had suffered major water damage.

But, the original owner of the waterlogged truck got in touch.

So, the new buyer met him and learned more about the truck’s fateful accident.

The flooded Chevrolet was purchased after a boating lake incident

The guys from Legit Street Cars on YouTube restored the truck and documented the process in a video.

They paid $5,300 for the pleasure after it fell into the lake and completely froze.

And, as luck would have it, the original owner came across the video online and got in touch to really dish the dirt on what happened.

The original owner of the car reveals that it floated off the boat ramp due to low water levels.

“The water was so low I had to back the truck in just a little bit further and it put the wheels on the slick ramp,” he said.

The owner was trying to get his boat into the lake but unfortunately went so far back that his truck ended up in the water with it.

The owner learned his lesson the hard way

He said that the experience was a good lesson and shared two things that he would most definitely recommend others do to avoid finding themselves in the same situation.

He urged people to put their parking brake on, then put it in four-wheel-drive.

Although the incident ended in heartache for the original owner, he said his experience could very well help someone else.

In fact, the creator hoped that by sharing this experience, others would take notice and avoid the same mistakes.

To buy new, a Chevrolet Silverado costs a whopping $37,645.

It is described as ‘ready, steady and strong,’ by Chevrolet itself.

Just not in water, eh?
